Globacom Announced Big Support for Tobi Amusan – the world champion

Tobi Amusan, the reigning African, Commonwealth, and World 100m hurdles champion, was announced as the newest Brand Ambassador for telecommunications and digital services firm Globacom on Thursday. The company’s headquarters, Mike Adenuga Towers, are located on Victoria Island in Lagos, where the announcement was made.

At the event, Lawrence Odediran, Regional Manager, Sales, Lagos for Globacom, explained that the decision to name Amusan as the company’s ambassador was made not only to honor her for her many achievements, but also to foster the development of sports in Nigeria and inspire the country’s many young people to work hard toward their goals with the help of the new ambassador.

“Her accomplishments in athletics are worthy of praise, and we at Globacom are pleased to celebrate them. She succeeded despite facing enormous obstacles because she embodies the Nigerian values of perseverance, hard work, and initiative. Odediran said, “These are values with which Globacom is aligned.

He said of Tobi Amusan, “she prepared extremely hard in the past years, and today belongs to her,” using Malcom X’s famous quote, “the future belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Others among Nigeria’s and Africa’s young people who are similarly resolute may start getting ready for tomorrow now. Therefore, whatever the difficulties they may be facing, we encourage them to keep working toward their goals,” he said.

At the ceremony, a visibly elated Tobi Amusan expressed her gratitude to Globacom for selecting her to serve as an ambassador. She said she would always act in a way that would make the firm and the young people she works with proud. The new brand representative also gave her word that she would keep spreading goodwill for the firm wherever she went. “As Glo’s brand ambassador, it gives me great pleasure to represent such a reputable company. It’s a fantastic Nigerian enterprise that’s helping the country and its people. She expressed her appreciation to the company’s chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jr.

At the 2022 Global Athletics Championships, Tobi won the 100-meter hurdles event, making history as the first Nigerian to win a world championship in an athletic event. In the semi-final, she ran a world-record 12.12 seconds, and in the final, she ran a world-record 12.06 seconds to win the gold.

Two-time winner of the 100m hurdles at the African Games, as well as the African and Commonwealth titles in 2018 and 2022, respectively, Amusan capped up a lengthy and successful 2022 season by winning the 100m hurdles at the Zurich Diamond League event in a timing of 12.29 seconds.
